Been wondering about this myself. Using the menu editor, you can link
anything to your desktop. Just drag an item to the desktop and drop. Select
"link" from the menu that pops up. If you can't see the desktop under the
menu editor, press and hold the ALT key while you drag with the left mouse
button to move it.

If you want something that pops up on a right-click, though (ala some of the
Start Menu hacks in Win95/98), I don't know what to tell you. I tried the
same thing, adding items to my bookmarks. However, when I add a folder (I
don't want just a few icons, after all), it won't open up (though it's
listed in Bookmarks). In fact, nothing gets added by drag and drop, only by
navigating to a location and adding a bookmark. Of course, then you have a
folder that open when clicked, but not in a menu-type fashion.

Perhaps drag-and-drop is not implemented (yet or by choice). I admit I
haven't checked the docs yet. I'll let you know if I find anything.
