Hi folks: Installed RH5.9 today to play with on one of my systems. VVEERRYY interesting! By default it runs in X-windows mode ONLY!. I spent several hours trying to figure out how to get back to multi-user mode. Each time I would logout Xwindows would close and then re-start. After looking at all the init files (and damn near every other file on the system) this unknowing newbie finally figured out the problem. Just ONE character needed to be changed to get things back to what I consider "normal" ...hehehe. In /etc/initab the default runlevel is set to 5 which didn't mean a lot to me until I read the comments above it showing the different runlevels and what they do. Changed the 5 to a 3 and presto, the machine boots the RIGHT way (my way's always the right way, isn't it?). :))) This is just a word to the wise for those of you who want to try the Beta out, don't know what the full release will do. One thing that is VERY nice, RH decided to include current releases of several environment and desktops, all easily changed without having to reload. (GNOME, KDE, and all the usual wm's). Tom
