The README file that came with my distribution located in
/usr/X11R6/netscape/README says -- Communicator/Navigator needs to locate the
java40.jar file. It will look in the following directories in this order:
<program directory>
$MOZILLA_HOME/java/classes
$HOME/.netscape
/usr/local/netscape/java/classes
/usr/local/lib/netscape
