You technically can still use /dev/cuaXX, however, they want to get that
device structure out of the kernel as soon as possible.  If you use it,
the kernel spews a warning to the console, as well as to the system log
file, that you are using an obsolete method of using the serial ports.

Use /dev/ttySxx for your serial port needs.
