Actually the run level that red hat 5.2 starts out at is 3. You
change the line to run level 5. The last time I did it I used emacs.
What I did is go into x to make sure it works then change the run
level with one of the editors in x-windows. At least that is how i
have done it. I try and make sure I have it set up right before I set
it as my default. The first time I set it up my mouse would not
work and I had set the screen size as too big.
Speaking of 386s, I remember one I used to use with win 3.1 that
would not run more than one program. I used the windows version
of pegasus mail and that was all it could handle. So I would not
install 3.1 on it. It might have been the memory, but it was hardly
the fastest of computing experiences.
