Fedor,
I hope someone will be able to answer your question, but I'd like
to point out that you have the wrong list. Compiling a C library is not a
trivial task. There are a lot of setup related things to do. Further more,
unless you are extremely careful, you will probably trash your system
when it is time to install. This is most certainly NOT a newbie task. I
suggest you take your question to one of the gnu.* newsgroups.
I'm curious as to why you feel it necessary to compile the C
library when packaged ones in binary format are readily available for most
distributions.

PS. On my 200MHz machine it took an hour and a half to compile. I hope you
