Dave,

You need to run XF86Config (from /usr/bin/X11 (I think??) to set up your X
server. (The redhat installation guide can point u in the right direction
(assuming you're using redhat??)

You can run X windows from a windows PC bu u will need an X win client...
try XWIN32 from www.tucows.com - it times out after 2 hours but is quite
good . In your telnet session set DISPLAY to ip addr:0 of your PC eg...
192.168.10.10:0 - u can then start any x app and it appears as a window on
your PC.

Text terminals won't run X, graphics term willl...but you'll have to ask
someone else how to set that up!

Does that help?

        Hello,
As I've been using my linux box from the shell thus far and
have never
installed x, I've got several questions, first, where do I start
reading,
secondly, can I run x from a terminal, either a serial terminal or
over
tcp/ip via a telnet login, and will video cards be a factor?
        Thanks.
        Dave.
