Just let the distribution source ie, (a cdrom with say Redhat),

Your dos drive will stay the same, linux will not touch it, the
distribution install however will see it and as if you wish to have
it added to you lilo,conf to boot either dos or linux.

USB is being developed but should work ok at the presant time.
AGP cards should pose no problems at all.
PCI cards same as above.

Yes it does, i  use DHCP-2.0 at the minute i only use the "client"
but will be using the server very soon.

O just one comment on modems, i trust you dont have a winmodem which
will NOT work under linux, there is a URL with modems which will and
will not work, however i cant find the URL at the minute. i am sure
someone else will advise you on that.

Once again there is a URL sbout instasling linux on notbeooks, i dont
