We could probably help you more if you had included in your message the
actual lines in hosts.deny that are causing the error. Failing that, I
suggest you look at "man 5 hosts_access" for better information on how to
format the file. Or compare the format of these lies to the prior 614 lines,
which apparently do not generate errors.
