Problem with pppd

Greetings:

   A few hours ago, I tried to dialup to the net through Linux, and 
received the following message:  /sbin/pppd: The remote system is required 
to authenticate itself but I could not find any suitable secret (password) 
for it to do so.  Any idea what is going on here, and what I can do to get 
back my net access? My script has been working for months.
