Hey I got some new movement in minicom. I went into it to make sure it was directed to ttyS1 Then I exited and went to the minicom window. It now says: AT S7=45 S0=0 L1 V1 X4 &c1 E1 Q0 Does anyone know what this means???? The only thing I did was do a ppp setup in linuxconf (all that was missing was the "secret") which I found out about in the RH6.1 manual. Does this mean it is communicating with the modem. I think AT means "attention" right???? Also as usual I can't close minicom so I did the ps ax and kill from another terminal. When I came back to this one it said "Resetting modem". I don't remember it doing this in the past. John
