That would be for the driver to > worry about. I don't know how to fix it, but I had the same thing happen recently. The NIC was an SMC Ultra something- or-other, set (by jumper on card) to 0x280. ifconfig showed it as being at 0x290, IIRC. If was either 0x270 or 0x290, but anyways, it was off.
