Hi,

I have posted before on this list and have not been able to figure out
what I must do. The story is as follows: I have a SBlive card and the OSS
trial version detects and allows me to play sound, all is well.
Apparently, the alsa-driver also supports the card. I got the drivers
from the alsa-site and followed the instructions, viz.
a. ran ./configure
b. make install
c. ran ./snddevices
d. modprobe snd-card-emu10k1.o

All was well till here and I got no error msgs. When I tried 'play
sound.wav' I get
sox: Can't open output file '/dev/dsp': No such device.

An 'ls -lF /dev/dsp*' shows that there is a such a file.

What am I missing? If I must give more information than the above, what
must I include?

Thanks,
-Karthik.
