As mentioned in another mail, however use;

xterm -e lynx &

That will allow the use of the first xterm as well, no "&" and you cant use
that xterm anymore, the "&" places the command in another xterm period.

'man xterm' will show you howto set colors lettertype and much more.

On another note, the program 'screen' allows the same sort of behaviour, i
cant help much there as i dont use it.
