Otto, I ran across this software blurb and thought that you'd be interested:

Sdx11 (Start Different X11 sessions) is a Perl script that lets you specify which
window manager you would like to use before you start X, and will then start an X
session with that window manager. It automatically detects and starts on the next
available display, so more than one X session can be easilly run. You can also
specify
any additional programs you would like to run in the .sdxrc file, and they will be
run
as well.
Changes: Updates to use SawFish instead of SawMill, as well as various other small
fixes and cleanups.
Urgency: low
License: GPL
Category: X11/Administration
