Hi, I stopped using fdisk on the MD1000 and other large non-boot partitions awhile ago. I use LVM and create pdisk/vgroup/ldisk. This works better: easier to increase the size, blocksizes are bigger, etc.
fdisk doesn't have any easily usable resize options, except in Ubuntu. Nevertheless, the issues of alignment between fdisk partitions and OS blocks made me want to not use fdisk anymore.
