I don't use CHAP. But for certainty (y'll never know), i've added
'refuse-chap' and 'chap-interval 60' in my option-file and restarted pppd.
The result is tesame on the fastest modem (56K)
But when i log-in via the second modem (14400), there is also that data-flow
sputtering, but the gaps are smaller.

Is there anybody, who setup a dail-in server without these problems ??

Thanks to the listening ears.

Hi!
A thought hit me that you might consider in solving this dilemma. Could it
be a CHAP thing? Remember that CHAP reauthenticates every few seconds... If
CHAP is being used, try changing the 'chap-interval' to 60 seconds or so and
see if it changes the timing of the problem. I seem to remember that the
default is something like 10 - 15 seconds. Call me silly if it doesn't work.
