Dear ppp'ers
I am trying to set up demand dialing with ppp version 2.3.5-1 on RH5.2
linux kernel 2.0.36. Firstly is this possible? If not, is it better to
upgrade the kernel or is there a more recent ppp that will demand dial.
The symtpoms of my problem are:
I have the following options file:
/dev/modem
demand
asyncmap 0x00000000
idle 90
10.0.0.1:10.0.0.2
ipcp-accept-remote
ipcp-accept-local
lock
noauth
defaultroute
user "xxxxxxxx"
remotename isp's-domain
modem 115200 crtscts
connect '/usr/sbin/chat -v -f /etc/ppp/pppscript'
After issuing pppd, it comes back with the message:
pppd: demand dialling is not supported by kernel driver version 2.2.0
yet dialed up immediately and there was small (20 bytes) traffic so if it
was meant to drop, it didn't!
To what does the 2.2.0 refer?
John
