Identical problem with TAPE!!  In fact it's even worse...

Hehe..you really think that it would be normally mounted?  That an
ordinary user would control the files??

Expand your thinking!

   Tape backup is needed in ADDITION to RAID for better solution.

Sure, just give everybody free hardware.  Don't run many budgets eh?
