I have just setup raid1 on my root partition. Once set up, the system
works fine, but if I boot with unconfigured or out of date partitions with
type 0xfd, it is impossible to add these partitions to a raid array.
If I try to do it, I get a kernel message saying:

Aug 4 17:08:01 omega kernel: md: can not import sdb2, has active inodes!
Aug 4 17:08:01 omega kernel: md: error, md_import_device() returned -16

It seems that the kernel is not releasing the devices properly when it
decides they are not valid raid partitions.

The result is that if I want to readd a disk that was taken out to test
the system, I have to boot, change the partition type, reboot, change back
to 0xfd, and then add the disk to the array.

I use :
kernel 2.0.36
raid0145-19990421-2.0.36
raidtools-19990724-0.90
