But from what I understood from the previous message, this is an array created
with the latest tools. If not, how could he successfully start the array with
mkraid? I don't think the "mkraid --upgrade" option can cover this situation,
can it?

I suppose you could do it the way others have suggested by resizing the
filesystem and then running mkraid, but I wouldn't want to do this without
backing up, and if I'd backed up anyway, I would be inclined to take the easy
route and rebuild the array.
