What drives are you using ?
Some drives cause it to hang.
Also it depends if your using an inbuilt or addon card.
Old motherboards dont support a 3rd and 4th ide channel (BIOS limitation?)
As far as i know your looking in the right place for the patch

I have an Abit hpt366 card, it works
