Clay,
I downloaded the 2.2.14 source and the patch. Patch applies fine at first,
then fails miserably in the last 75-100 hunks. downloaded again just in
case... same thing. Compiled the kernel anyway and no go. Won't recognize
my raid and it appears the same as the 0.90 tools without the patch in
earlier kernels... looks like it will start the raid, then gives the
message to see /proc/mdstat and the syslog, but no raid. Errors in the
system log are:
Oops ! md0 not running, giving up !
Bad md_map in ll_rw_block
EXT2-fs: unable to read superblock
Oops ! md1 not running, giving up !
Bad md_map in ll_rw_block
EXT2-fs: unable to read superblock

Mkraid --really-force /dev/md0 gives:

[root@bigdaddy /root]# mkraid --really-force /dev/md0
DESTROYING the contents of /dev/md0 in 5 seconds, Ctrl-C if unsure!
handling MD device /dev/md0

mkraid: aborted, see the syslog and /proc/mdstat for potential clues.

and that's all she wrote.
If I reboot to 2.2.12, raid starts and runs just fine.
