Just a small warning about the lilo - rai1 patches:
1) The patch does NOT handle arrays in degraded mode correctly (check for
faulty / missing disk when parsing raid information is broken).
2) even if the patch was done right, it STILL wouldn't work reliably for
degradewd arrays: the raid driver currently decrements the number of disks
in the array if a disk is removed. So, if disk 1 of 2 fails, the raid layer
returns "array has 1 disks" and lilo will never reach the working disk it
needs to update when iterating over the disks in the array.
3) lilo raidpatch won't work at all for arrays which were created in
degraded mode using "failed-disk" in raidtab unless you've applied the
patch from
ftp://ftp.sime.com/pub/linux/raidtools-19990824-0.90.mabene.gz
to your raidtools before creating - the number of disks is wrongly set 1
too high, which causes patched lilo to barf (see 1).
