Hi there,

Something which I've been having trouble understanding is why my PIII's
seem to perform better with the p5_mmx checksum than with the pII_mmx.

Here's my results from dmesg:

raid5: measuring checksumming speed
raid5: MMX detected, trying high-speed MMX checksum routines
   pII_mmx   :  1544.193 MB/sec
   p5_mmx    :  1617.726 MB/sec
   8regs     :  1259.205 MB/sec
   32regs    :   661.416 MB/sec
using fastest function: p5_mmx (1617.726 MB/sec)

Should I be concerned? Is this just one of those things?

I've reproduced this on all the PIII-based machines I maintain.

Corin
