You can't layer RAID arrays with the code for kernel 2.2, apart from
RAID0+1 (which will not survive a failure anyway, due to a bug).

I understand that you will be able to do this under kernel 2.4, which
should support any amount of layering RAID and/or LVM you can think of.

Until then, I'd advise you to stick to your current config.
