Hmm, I see you have discovered this patch.

The patch should work fine for you, however, BE ADVISED that it will not
become the "official" fix for this problem in Linux. At some point in the
future (2.4 or later), the Linux RAID driver will be changed to deal with
this problem in a better way, such that existing RAID partitions will
still be recognized. My patch changes the layout of the RAID partition on
non i386 platforms.

So, go ahead and use it, your machine should be stable, but keep in mind
that at some future point, when the RAID driver in the official Linux
kernel gets fixed, you may have to reformat your RAID partitions to be
able to upgrade.

I've been meaning to make a patch to do the "real fix" for 2.4, but I've
just been busy with other things...
