        I thought the CONFIG_AIC7XXX_RESET_DELAY for the new driver in
the new kernel was actually CONFIG_AIC7XXX_RESET_DELAY_MS and was in
milliseconds.  I had a bitch of a time with it not recognizing my
CDRW drive until I realized that the old value had been propagated to
the new driver and it was only set to a few milliseconds instead of
a few seconds.  Set it to 15000 and I can suddenly see my CDRW drive
once again.
