I have tried this on a Prosignnia VS.
After a reasonable amout of mucking around I discovered that the ncr53c7xx
driver doesn't
support the EISA bus which is what compaq used on those 486 based machines.

Unless you are able to write a driver for the ncr53c7xx for the EISA bus
your only option
is to pick up a ISA SCSI card of some type ( I used an adaptec 1520 ) which
is supported.

There was a rumour of someone in the UK writing a driver for this beast but
I was not able to
track it down.
