Hi,
scanning with SANE with my scanner UMAX Astra 610S connected to my
Dawicontrol DC-2974 PCI card and the tmscsim driver copiled
into my 2.2.5 kernel causes the SCSI card to hang, i.e.
when I try to acquire a preview with xscanimage, the scanner
starts but hangs shortly before completion. After a certain
time (several minutes) I tried to query the SCSI cards with the
program scsiinq: then I get a SCSI timeout frome the card and
the scanner moves back to the initial position, but the scan
software has lost the connection to the device, produces only
SCSI timeouts. Only a shutdown with power off can cure this
(Reset doesnt help).
Output from /var/log/messages:
Jul 11 09:12:26 einstein kernel: Detected scsi generic sge at scsi1, channel 0, id 5,
lun 0
The scanner is the only device on this card, my harddisks and all other
devices are connected to an Adaptec 2940AU.
The alternate driver I found in my distribution (S.u.S.E. 6.1)
"AM53/79C974 (PC-SCSI) Linux driver ALPHA release 0.5, 19 November 1995"
by Drew Eckhardt and D. Frieauff works without problems in the same
configuration.
In both cases I use the default settigs without any lilo or kernel
parameters or mods via echo in /proc.
Since I would like to use more devices at the Dowicontrol card in near
future, Id like to use the tmscsim driver, because it appears to me more
advanced, Id happy about hints how to use it with my scanner.
Here some debug info:
