I think this is typical on, say, SunOS system.
We usually pick up the problem due to the log message
about timeout (and reset that follows sometimes).

The previous message I posted was based on this observation.
That is, if linux scsi subsystem reports such problems instead
of sometimes entering a strange/buggy state, it would be very useful.

Of course, the buggy disk, for example, can't be a seriously used
system disks such as SWAP, executable files, etc..
But our experience at the office is that we can use the
timeout (or other corrective action) messages to get ready for the
eventual disk replacement.

BTW, similar corrective action messages or reset are often seen
during tape backup probably due to dirty tape head, etc..
These again are handled rather gracefully by Sun scsi system.
