More likely it's not so much the cable, or the drive failing, but
incorrect termination. Check that all drives, except the last one in the
chain and the scsi adapter, have termination off. Also, if available,
you might want to enable SCSI-bus power on that last drive too. I've had
a few cases in which the last drive had to have the internal termination
disable, but require the bus be powered by the last drive. It varies,
depending on the controller and the drives.
