I am trying with (on-board) AIC7896 to run Ultra2 (with Cheetah, without the
SE mode jumper). I can't seem to make it. The driver version is the
one included in 2.2.10 (5.1.17).

   - should I try a later driver ?
   - should I do something special to it ? (arguments)>

thank you for any idea, pointer, etc.

PS: except than that, with 4 x seagate cheatah 10'000 8 GB, I get
around 70 MBytes/s Bonnie block input and output with the current
(24071999) RAID0 patch, two per channel, with a 2GB file on
a 256 MB Pentium III machine. More than two per channel doesn't win
anything (obviously 2 x 18 == 36. That's why I would like to try Ultra2).
Theoretical (raw) bandwidth is 4 x 18 = 72 MByte/s so Linux's RAID
and filesystem implementation is not that bad in RAID0 provided you
have a very fast machine (70% CPU was used)!.
