Hi,
I have a Hercules Prophet II MX with 32MB mem.
It's not on the Xconfigurator list. Anyone know a compatable listing that
has the same server as the Prophet II?
I've tried a couple in custom setup, like SVGA and S3, and each one says
"server not found." Odd since I installed "everything." Do I need to compile
something?

Also, while on the subject, even if I select VGA just to get by, when it
comes to selecting the monitor, my Dell D1025TM is listed. I select it, but
the probe always says there's a problem and sends me back to the vertical
refresh rate, or even back to monitor selection. I've tried 50-60, 50-90,
50-100 (or something like that,) and it won't take any. Even if I choose
custom monitor and select one of the SVGA monitor options.
Any ideas?

Thanks!
Liam

I seem to remember there being a more useful GUI X-win setup than
Xconfigurator. Gives you more control over the refresh, and the mouse too if
I recall.
It's not xf86config, it was graphical.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

I had setup Apache in LINUX7.1 seawolf.

I can access Apache server in LINUX server computer only.

Ping is ok too.

What is wrong?

Thanks in advance.

What volume manager should I use?

Is it possible to re-partition once already installed? Or would I have to
make a full backup, then restore to the split partitions? (This is possible,
will waste about 2 CD's, thinking I'd rather go the hard way...)

Thanks for the tip. I was going back into YAST2 and allowing it to detect
the NIC again. This would reinitialize it and get the DNS again. However
what's strange is that I still had a network connection. Just the DNS would
be lost.

Hello

I have RH7.1, zip parallel port drive, and Canan printer attached to the
zip drive.
If I have the lprd service to be activated at boot time, my system will
start LPRD and then output
Winbond Super-IO detection, now testing ports 3F0,370,250,4E,2E
on the screen and then just hangs. I have to cold boot it.

Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this? Please cc. to

More likely /dev/scd0, although on my system the IDE name continues to
work.

Its very very old with lots of security problems. There have been a few
years of development and newer version are much friendlyer. Try Red Hat
7.1 or Mandrake 8.0.

Each partition should have an option to set the mount point. One of them
need to be "/", I would also set up others to be "/boot" (10 MB) and
"/home" (however much you need to store personal files for all users).

in case of Linux I know of two Volume Managers:

They all support re-sizing partitions on a running system, i.e. without
reboot or making a backup (although making a backup is always a *good idea*).

The only pit-fall here is: you have to use a filesystem that supports dynamic
resizing, too. I don't think ext2fs does this, but ReiserFS does.

The most common mistake I see is using an incomplete URL (missing trailing
slash when not referencing a specific filename). Apache tries to correct
the mistake by attempting to redirect to the corrected URL. However, by
default it uses what it thinks is its server name (your hostname if
ServerName is not set). So the first question is, can the client find the
server by its hostname?

You can get around this. See UseCanonicalName in apache docs.

Are you in a location where you have to dial the area code without a 1
prefix?

It could be an IRQ problem. Is the modem ISA (hard jumpered), PnP capable
or PCI? Even if a PnP capable modem is hard jumpered, I have had Windows
change the settings it uses. You might need to use isapnptools, create
/etc/isapnp.conf using pnpdump and edit that for port and irq.

It will work. You made another mistake.
converting to FAT32 will therefor not solve it.

Tell us what failed and how it failed (and what you tried), then we

It will work, also with NT.
You should keep a linux bootdisk at hand though, as windows might
destroy your MBR, leaving you with no bootoption. A bootfloppy
will be the easiest way to solve those problems.

(PS. Lilo usually doesn't *need* to be in the MBR)

That would be correct if boot messages show it was assigned to sr0. And
you would most likely record to /dev/sg0 (or 0,0,0) (but don't try to
mount that).
