Hi all !
After upgrading from 2.2.1 to 2.2.2ac7 and running for a day, my
machine locked up with the message "stuck on TLB IPI wait (CPU#0)"
in the syslog.
Interrupts where enabled, since I could ping the machine just fine.
But X was locked up, and I couldn't log in or access any other
services via. the network.
I upgraded to 2.2.3, and the same thing happened. Only this time,
it only took a few hours.
Ping response sometimes was normal, and at other times the responses
where sent every three seconds or so.
One time the machine recovered after being locked up for about half
an hour.
This is from the syslog:
Mar 10 18:23:03 oestergaard kernel: stuck on TLB IPI wait (CPU#0)
Mar 10 18:23:28 oestergaard last message repeated 178 times
Mar 10 18:24:52 oestergaard kernel: stuck on TLB IPI wait (CPU#0)
Mar 10 18:24:52 oestergaard last message repeated 5 times
Mar 10 18:26:49 oestergaard kernel: stuck on TLB IPI wait (CPU#1)
..... reboot.
I skimmed the 2.2.3 patch, and didn't find _any_ changes in the
smp_flush_tlb() routine, nor in any routines that call it directly.
I haven't tried 2.2.2 yet. It seems as though there are quite a
few SMP changes between 2.2.2 and 2.2.1, but not really any related
to this between 2.2.2 and 2.2.3. Would it be worth a shot to try
2.2.2 ?
Any clues about what could be going on ?? Anything I can do to
track this bugger down ?
Thanks,
