In fact, they have already done it. An excellent programmer/hacker, working
for the german computer magazine "c't" has already hacked this "switch off".

Even worse, from what I know, once it is forced on again, you can't switch
it off again via software!

IMHO Intel's "step" was definitely WRONG! - What they should do, is a marking
on the wafer, which can only be read and in which the correct maximum CPU clock
is written, to make the market more save from remarked CPUs. Just to protect
the customer. - What they did instead, is opnening a broadway to spying out
customers behaviour on the net. - Free for anyone who can manage to get the
information.

One thing is for sure: I'll never buy a Pentium III, no matter how fast they will
get, or how cheap they are. Though I have nothing to hide, except my privacy,
I still want to be able to decide what others may know about me, and what not.
Anything else I feel as immoral.
