I'm in the process of giving Crafty a shot of "steroids"... I'm going
to do this by moving it from a quad-p6 to a quad xeon/450 machine. I'm
looking right now and the best deal seems to be the intel "chassis"
SC450NX. Since Linus is running an intel quad xeon, and I assume others
are too, I have a couple of questions for those running this machine:
1. Do the dual onboard SCSI channels work under linux ok? Or should I
plan on disabling them and using my trusty BusLogic?
2. This chassis had 6 hot-swappable slots for disks, plus 6 cages for
the disks that will support the 10K fast guys, as the cages have the
necessary heat sinks and fans to keep them cool. Does anyone know if
these will also fit the normal 2-4gig wide scsi drives (ie seagate)?
Or do I have to start over with disks as well?
If all works out, I'll supply some performance numbers in a few weeks
I hope...
thanks for answers...
