Why such an old kernel? For such a high-end SMP system, the latest 2.0.36
(or is it 7) from Alan Cox may be a much more stable option. (See
<www.uk.linux.org>). For best SMP performance and, IMHO, better stability,
go to 2.1.131ac7. Even though the latter is a "development" kernel, it takes
better advantage of both CPU's and will likely be more stable than any stock
2.0.35.

I don't know anything about your particular controller, but, from the
electrical standpoint, just hooking up a terminator to it should be no
different than an unused terminated drive.

I'm sure others will have many more detailed helpful suggestions, but
definitely try a more recent kernel if you haven't done that yet.
