I am having stability issues with 2.2.5 on my 450GX at work. I am currently
only running this thing with 2 PPro procs though it supports up to 4. It is a
bit of an odd ball system since this came as an engineering sample before the
450GX was actually released.
It seems to me to lock up more often when there is network activity, though I
could be wrong here. I've given up all together on using the bttv drivers for
now as it locks up within an hour or two at most if I have those modules
loaded. I've listed info below that may be relevant, though it is probably
way more than anyone cares to see:-> I believe the scsi bus that I'm using
(one of them seems to have problems so I quit using it) is at IRQ 9 which is
shared with one of the eepro cards.
This system seems rock solid on a 2.0.36 UP kernel and I have a friend at
work with a similar system which was rock solid with a 2.0.34 SMP kernel. I
previously had Tulip ether cards, but these caused all kinds of problems with
the 2.1 and 2.2 kernel series on this machine making it completely unusable
other than with 2.0.
Any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated as I use this machine for
about 8-10 hours each day:->
