Hi All, Thanks for your inputs. I think I'll just watch this one go by and build it myself when I need a SMP machine (or have someone else front the $ :) ) My own experience with Compaq has been somewhat similar - well built, but expensive machines that are built ever-so-slightly-off-std that you need to keep coming back to Compaq to get replacements or fixes. And being so, they often don't behave 'normally' when put in ever-so-slightly different environments. The last message in to linux-smp accentuates what Tim Fletcher said about odd IOAPICs: Subject:IO-APIC warning message / linux on Compaq ProLiant 5500 Thanks again, -- Cheers, Harry Harry J Mangalam -- (949) 856 2847 -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] - Linux SMP list: FIRST see FAQ at http://www.irisa.fr/prive/mentre/smp-faq/ To Unsubscribe: send "unsubscribe linux-smp" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
