Hi,

Would it be possible to switch from "SMP-mode" to single mode
without rebooting my computer (i.e. remote services being accessible
during switch)?

The reason I would like this is that I cannot sleep with my
computer running in the background (I've been without sleep
for 2 days now ;P).

With single/dual-mode switching (and vice-versa)
it would be possible for me to use the non-SMP APM
and hence stop my fans etc. etc.
(HD Powerdown doesn't significantly decrease the noise)

Thanks for any suggestions,
(kernel patches would also be very much appreciated :)
