Nope. I'm using:

XFree86 Version 3.3.2 / X Window System
(protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6300)
Release Date: March 2 1998
If the server is older than 6-12 months, or if your card is newer
than the above date, look for a newer version before reporting
        problems. (see http://www.XFree86.Org/FAQ)

My experience has been just the opposite. No problems with my Slackware system
running 2.0.xx kernels for over a year. Then I moved to Debian and the 2.2.xx
kernels at about the same time. Yesterday was the first time I've had X lock
up on me. Quite frequently (in fact, earlier today) I expereince the "whacked
mouse" effect. This is where you're moving your mouse across the screen and
all of a sudden the cursor starts freaking out and jumping all around the
screen in different directions. Moving the mouse forward might cause the
cursor to jump up and to the left. Do it again and it might go a different
direction, maybe not. To fix that I ctrl+alt+f1 and the ctrl+alt+f7 back into
X. Then the mouse will work for days or weeks at a time without it happening.

I have not compiled my own X. I'm just using the binaries that came with
Debian 2.1. Is it possible to tell which compiler a binary was compiled with?
