Hi all, I install RedHat6.0 on an SMP-capable machine (but has only one CPU), I have 2 image, one SMP and one on-SMP, reboot into SMP image, go to kernel config, enable SMP support, save it, recompile the kernel (make bzImage), then recompile modules (make modules + make modules-install). PROBLEM: my new kernel doesn't seem to be a SMP kernel because when I look at /lib/modules, my newly built stuff doesn't have the word "smp", just 2.2.5-15, not like the default 2.2.5-15smp. Another thing is with the new kernel, I can load a non-SMP driver! QUESTION: Do I have to have 2 CPUs to make a new SMP kernel? if not, what more do I need to do before/when compile the new kernel to make it SMP kernel? Thanks and Regards. -Diep- _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
