If you walk through linux-smp and linux-kernel you'll see many
complaints/troubles with the BP6. THere are heat issues, IRQ issues,
and just things that shouldn't of passed Abit QC. Many people get random
lockups and random reboots are the worst of the problems. When running
SMP, all will go good for a while and then just a complete system lockup.
NO magickeys work, can't toggle numlock/capslock lights. Its not a heat
issue, my CPUs hover at about 36C while under very high load. The
motherboard temp stays at about 38C. Others, feel free to chime in with
your sob stories :)
In linux-kernel, the only common thread between these lockups is running a
kernel after 2.2.6, SMP, SCSI, and NFS. BUt I tend to think its the
motherboard. All the other components in the system were working awesome
in my Abit BM6. I guess you get what you pay for. If you pay for $130
SMP, you get $130 SMP. Blech.
