I realized you had posted a lot after I replied and saw the message list.

I think (don't quote me on this) there has been a bad batch that went out.
A friend of mine about 100 miles away had a BP6 that would instantly reboot
after about 2 minutes, even uniprocessor... he got it exchanged and it has
been golden ever since. I wish I knew more about the bad ones but try to
exchange that board and get a new one.. once you get a good one, you'll be
very happy.

I don't have IRQ trouble and I have every PCI slot filled.
The only thing I want fixed from Abit is the USB not mapping to an IRQ when
in MPS 1.4 mode. I think Martin's latest PCI patch fixes it the correct way
whereas I'm using a dirty hack to get it to work. It's an Award 4.51 bug, not
an Abit bug.

You might want to try removing any/all devices from the HPT controller.
I know windows has lockup issues with it.. maybe Linux does also.. might
be a hardware bug. I'm just using the BX chipset ports right now.

YMMV

Even computer terms are going PC (har har), bugs are now issues, and
crashes are now 'not responding'.. heheh..
