You can have a look at Splash benchmarks:

Those benchmarks are oriented towards analysing hardware
behaviour. Maybe to complicated. But try to analyze a system in great
extent. A papers describes tests and data analysis:

Otherwise, there is a pointer in the FAQ/HOWTO related to kernel
behavior tests (but that was back to 2.0 kernels):
