Hi...
We're currently running a Compaq Proliant 5500R (E13)
4way P.Pro/512kb@166Mhz with 256MB ram. A Compaq Smart2/P
controller w. 4MB cache and the builtin NCR 53c8xx SCSI
controller.
This setup is currently running RH6.1 with the std. 2.2.20-smp
kernel with support for the 3Com 3c985B gigabit ethernet nic.
Now, I would really like to upgrade to the 2.3.x (so I'm a nerd),
The reason for upgrading is the native kernel support for the
3Com gigabit card. But I can't.
I can compile the kernel with the same options as the 2.2.x
kernel with no problems. But when the system boots more or less
all my hardware is gone.
When Kudzu starts, it states that NCR scsi controller is gone,
the 3Com 3c905B (10/100Mb nic) and the 3Com 3c985B etc. The only
thing left that works is the Smart2/P controller.
The 5500's bios as well as the bios on the Smart2/P controller
has both been flashed to newest versions. The OS is set to Unixware
7.
I have tested with kernels ranging from 2.3.12 to 2.3.27. All with
the same result :-(
Hope somebody is able to help me.
