Not always true.  Intel server boards with their on-board
SCSI/ethernet/video haven't given me any real trouble...at least not yet.

I doubt you'll find 8 PCI slots in anything but very high end (high $)
server boards.  OTOH, if you have everything built in, 4-5 PCI slots might
be enough.

BTW...can anyone suggest a dual channel u2w SCSI card that presents both
channels externally on the card edge?  The only dual channels one's I've
found so far are Adaptec and only one channel is externally accessible.
