I put together an almost similiar system last week (using 466s)
and problem with the the SMP kernel too. On SMP boot I encounter
an "oops" hickup, which brings the system to halt.

System works fine though with the uni-processor kernel.

Reading carefully the SMP mailinglist, there seem to be
two important things to do. Using at least 2.2.14 and
get the latest bios of Abit. Found a copy of the Abit bios at

    ftp://ftp.abit.com.tw/pub/beta/bp6/bios/BP6_QQ.zip

Sorry, haven't tried it yet. Will post my results as soon
as I have more details. Let me/us know if case you find more news.
