What exactly is BP6 systems? Please enlighten me.

Sorry, tried that; same problem.
After looking at Documentation/IO-APIC.txt, it really doesn't seem to have
a huge impact if I managed to disable the enhanced interrupt controller
(since, of course, there's currently only 1 CPU on the board).
Are you sure "noapic" is the correct parameter to append to the kernel?
